Diversification leads to growth

In the last 4 years, in the thick of a precarious economy, we have been fortunate enough to have grown a small but successful business. In a delicate market sector, we accredit this largely to our ability to embrace new ways of working, sharing and diversification.

The decline in print appreciation

In the world of professional photography, although we continue to invest in expensive kit, a decline in the perceived value of the photographic print has hit everyone. Photographers and media suppliers  (photo pioneer Kodak is currently working on Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection)  are struggling to sell traditional media in quantities that will sustain business operations.

Over the last 2 years in particular, in our business, orders for good quality large art prints have been superseded by a sharp incline in orders for digital images and smaller print memorabilia. Our photography is mostly people based. In portraiture and wedding photography, we are finding that our clients tend to want to own a lot of smaller prints and digital images that they can share with others, rather than just choose one image made into a  large canvas that proudly adorns the wall.
